The Ash Holes

This week we travel down to one of the largest growers of tobacco on The Ash Holes as we broadcast live from Studio 21 Podcast Café. Plasencia started growing tobacco in Cuba where he located in 1865. In 1963 the family fled from Cuba to Mexico before landing in Nicaragua. Their tobacco is used in many different brands, but in 2017 the company began producing their own cigars.

It’s a cigar that was introduced at the 2018 IPCPR. The Fratello Navetta Inverso features a Nicaragua Habano wrapper, Ecuador Habano binder and fillers from a single farm in Nicaragua as well as the Dominican Republic.

Today we wrap up the Blind Taste Test. We are joined by very special guest Glenn Boivin who knows how to smoke blind better than anyone we know…because he is…blind that is. Today we are smoking the winner of the blind taste challenge and we will reveal the cigars that were included, look at which won and look back at the highlights and disappointments of said challenge.

The Ash Holes turns 2 years old today, and we celebrate in style with Taino by Serino Cigar Co. We tell you all about this cigar that was a joint project from father (Anthony Serino) and son (Carson Serino). As we enjoy this great cigar we will look back at two years of fun, games and madness known as The AshHoles.

Just when you thought you wouldn’t hear a political commercial for a year, we have one more very important voting process for you to take part in. We’ve made it through the first two rounds of the Blind Taste Test and today we pit the final two candidates against each other in a fight to the death. We smoke cigars #13 and #14 and in a couple of weeks we will disclose the whole voting breakdown as well as the winner in this election.

This week we welcome to the show the Vice President of Hammer + Sickle Cigars, Erik Wentworth. It’s a full house at the show as we light up a cigar deep from within the vault of the New England based company. Erik brings the Hammer + Sickle Sochi Limited Edition 2014. Only 101 boxes of 10 were produced in a 6 ¾ x 48 size. The cigar was manufactured with seven different tobaccos from three countries.

While we wait for people to cast their votes to determine which cigar makes it to the final round for the Blind Taste Challenge, we are going back to our normal format of picking a cigar to smoke and review it live. This week we are smoking the Aganorsa Leaf Signature Belicoso by Aganorsa Leaf the company once known as Casa Fernandez.

The Signature line features 4 sizes: Belicoso, Toro, Robusto, and Corona Gorda. The tobacco in these cigars has been aged for 7 years and features the rare medio tiempo leaf in the filler. Each of the four sizes is limited to 500 boxes
