Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto Cigar Review
Tuesday Aug 20, 2019
Tuesday Aug 20, 2019
One of the questions we get asked most is, do you guys carry Cuban cigars. The answer is no. Which is usually followed with, “Are Cubans as good as they say they are?” It’s a debate held among many cigar smokers, and we will let you know our thoughts if it’s worth the hype, or if it is a myth that should not be believed The guys will take a look at the Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto which comes from an island 90 miles south of Miami. Is it any better then a Nicaraguan, Honduran or Dominican cigar, or is just the fact they are not available at US Tobacconists.

If you mention one name in the cigar industry that gets Ash Hole Michael DiMare all hot and bothered, it is Skip Martin. He is a RoMaCraft fan boy to the extreme, and this week we light up the Intemperance BA Intrigue which features a Brazilian Arapiraca wrapper. He won’t be able to sit still and contain himself with glee, but will Ed Sullivan and Aarron Noonan feel the same way?

His factory makes cigars for many different companies, but often over-looked is his own line Jose Dominguez. Today we catch up with the man, the myth and the legend as we smoke a cigar that is unique in so many ways. The packaging looks like a sneaker box, the cigar sizes match up with the cigar prices (before any local taxes), and in lieu of a band, the name of the brand and its logo are laser etched right into the wrapper. Join us as we storm the caste and fire up Hightower. It’s a cigar that everyone will be talking about before long.

The King’s Teasure was a contender for Cigar of the Year last year. And what a treasure it is. It comes to us from industry veteran Robert Wright who owns Pura Soul. He spent many years working for Christian Eiroa before venturing out on his own and using the knowledge to create a cigar that is very much his own.
